| Solid-cast bronze, mounted on rough pink granite. 21 inches (length) and 7 inches (ht.) Signed "Gustel". Gustel Morton's sculptures were modelled on real and imagined animals. Some were as common as the neighbor's dachshund while others inhabited the secret places of the mind. She gave her creatures, molded from wood, clay and metal, an aura of life grounded on her intuitive sense of the way things move. "Manta Ray" was one of her personal favorites and resided on her bedroom window- ledge in Boston for many years. She was a long-time member of the Boston Society of Independent Artists. A slightly smaller polished wood version accompanies the bronze. | ||
