Oil on wood panel, 5 inches x 3.75 inches plus frame. This diminutive folk masterpiece elucidates the essence of that genre, namely the ability of the relatively untutored hand to achieve true and honest expression. The canine, of less than noble lineage, has been banished to the cellar for some unknown transgression. His best friend has stolen down the stairs in his bare feet to provide comfort and companionship. A gem.
